Having just enjoyed a gorgeous Cheshire weekend, today we’re sharing our ideas about how to spend the perfect sunny Saturday in Alderley Edge, which offers a blend of beautiful countryside and chic ‘uber village’ living.

Nothing beats waking up to a glorious spring morning on the Cheshire plain, so for us, after picking up breakfast from Alderley Edge’s finest bakery, G. Weinholt’s, heading straight to the ‘Edge’ – a stunning natural escarpment with views across the Cheshire Plain – is a must-do. After a relaxing stroll through the beech trees – or Fairmont Spencer can arrange a horse-riding licence for you to view the woodland from a higher vantage point – why not stop for lunch at the lovely Wizard Inn gastro pub? Awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand annually since 2001 and recommended in the ‘Good Food Guide’ and Hardens UK Restaurants, the menu at The Wizard changes regularly to reflect the seasons.

We love to gently work off our lunch with a round at the Alderley Edge Golf Club. Recognised as the most challenging and enjoyable 9 holes in Cheshire, the gently undulating course has gorgeous views – but we’d advise you watch out for the ravine on the 8th hole! Be warned – the course will call on your skills of accuracy and requires careful approach shots.

Long summer days segue seamlessly into evening, so on your way to dinner, we’d recommend a BASIL GRANDE cocktail at the Botanist – the twist of black pepper gives an unexpected kick!

Whilst you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to evening eateries in Alderley Edge – with laid back options like Gusto and the Alderley Edge Bar and Grill – we like to head into the centre of Manchester on a Saturday evening , a comfortable ½ hour taxi (or chauffeur driven Bentley) journey away. Decide for yourself whether The French and Manchester House should be awarded a Michelin Star – you might have caught the restaurants on the BBC’s Restaurant Wars – the Battle for Manchester.
